New York's unfinished church: Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine
The cathedral is surprisingly intimate given its size, epitomized throughout its varied chapels. Particularly spectacular is the St. Ambrose chapel, the only chapel designed in the Renaissance style. Always a fixture in the community, the cathedral has steadily embraced various social issues and elements of pop culture and academia as is evidenced throughout the cathedral, e.g. a Keith Haring bronze altar in the Chapel of St. Saviour and the Poet’s Corner, homage to the literary community (a personal favorite).
