The names on the Columbia University AIDS Memorial have been identified in obituaries, articles and by friends as Columbians who have died of AIDS. They surely reflect only a tiny percentage of Columbians overall who have died from the epidemic, which is itself only a tiny percentage of those worldwide who have died of AIDS.
The list was originally compiled as part of the CU Libraries exhibition 'Stonewall & Beyond' May 25 - September 17, 1994, and is now maintained as an ongoing memorial by GABLES-CU (Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian Faculty, Staff and Supporters at Columbia University).
