The memorial contains three wondeful quotations engraved in black stone and an acknowledgment of the donors on the opposite side. The texts read:
"I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all."
Alfred Tennyson
"For what is it to die
but to stand naked in the wind
and melt into the sun.
And what is it to cease breathing,
but to free the breath from its restless tides,
that it may rise and expand
and seek God unencumbered"
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
"The sky is blank but beautiful.
Nothing will ever be the same -
a cup of emptiness to fill,
symbols shaped into a name."
Rachel Hadas, "The Bees of the Invisible"
