since 1 July 1993 25000 names |
In 1992, Hunter Reynolds conceived of the Memorial Dress project as an expression of the loss he felt after many of his friends and loved ones had died from AIDS. This is the first volume of a guest book which accompanies the dress whenever it is exhibited, and is filled with names of people who have died as a result of being infected with the AIDS virus. Eventually, each name in the book will be added to the over 25,000 already imprinted on the dress. It is an ongoing project that, as of 1996, has traveled to Boston, Berlin, and Hagen.
