Helping the fight against Aids - the North Yorkshire Aids Memorial Quilt
Today is World Aids Day, when people around the world are being asked to join the fight to end the stigma surrounding HIV and help to stop its transmission. And in the run-up to it, the North Yorkshire Aids Memorial Quilt has been out and about across the county to support the campaign. The large quilt has a white rose for each of those who has died, It was started by a group of bereaved mothers and partners and is updated each year by North Yorkshire Aids Action.

“Displaying the quilt helps raise awareness about the importance of early testing," said manager Kath Gallon. “On World Aids Day itself the quilt will be on public display at York Minster. Everyone is very welcome to view it and contribute to the quilt’s visitors book.”
To find out where to get tested or to request a test visit yorsexualhealth.org.uk or call 01904-721111.
