In the course of musealization of the Dutch AIDS Memorial Quilt, the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum (Dutch Open Air Museum) in Arnhem acquired five quilt blocks, each representing a specific topic or affected group. Block 1 is dedicated to Northern Africa. One of its eight panels was made for Abdel Nacer from Algeria who left his country to live as openly gay man in Amsterdam. Block 6 is dedicated to children and their family. One of its eight panels was made for Carissa, for her mother Karin and her father Chris who died in 1990, 1991, and 1992 resp.. Block 11 is dedicated to hemophiliacs and the Gelderland chapter of the Hiv Vereniging Nederland (Hiv Association Netherlands). One of its 8 panels was made for Ruben van Ewijk, who as hemophiliac very much felt at home in the colorful community of fellow sufferers at the Hiv Association. Two other panels were made for Jaap de Harder who together with Ruben was co-founder of their local chapter in Arnhem, and for Paul Hurenkamp who was host at the local Hiv Café. Block 19 is dedicated to sex workers. One of its eight panels was made for brothel owner Marga Schallenberg, her son Marcel, her partner Fred and his brother Bern. Block 27 was made on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Drugspastoraat (Drugs Ministry) Amsterdam in 2009. It contains 115 first names of clients that died from the consequences of AIDS 1990-2008.
Blocks 1, 6, 11, 19, and 27 have been transferred to the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum on 26 January 2016.
