Haags Historisch Museum Dutch AIDS Memorial Quilt - blocks 17, 18 and 26 since 27 November 2017
24 names
In the course of musealization of the Dutch AIDS Memorial Quilt, the Haags Historisch Museum (The Hague Historical Museum) acquired three quilt blocks that more than others relate to The Hague. Block 17 contains three panels of important citizens of The Hague: Arjan Yperlaan, former president of the Hague chapter of the Hiv Vereniging Nederland (HIV Association Netherlands), Martin Schenk, model with Kaposi sarcoma on the sauna poster of the Aids Fonds, and Wim Kuyten, a bisexual man. Block 18 contains a panel for Shanti Parag, member of the Hiv Vereniging Nederland and topic of the documentory Aan niets overleden (Died of Nothing). As Hindustani from Surinam, he broke three taboos: Shanti was overtly gay, as AIDS patient he did not hide his disease, and he chose for euthanasia. All panels of block 26 were made by nearest and dearest voluntering for the Buddy Network Den Haag.
Blocks 17, 18 and 26 have been transferred to the Haags Historisch Museum on 27 November 2017.
