In the early 1980's blood became contaminated by HIV. Tainted blood and blood products transmitted this devastating, often fatal disease to more than half of the 16,000 persons with hemophilia in the United States. An additional 12,000 individuals contracted the disease through blood transmissions.
"Prayer Feather", commissioned by the Hemophilia Association of New Jersey, memoralizes the victims of tainted blood whose memory remains in our hearts and honors those still struggling to survive.
