Lorca City Council pays tribute to the people who died of HIV by the erection a monument in the heart of the 'Alamedas', namely in the Alameda de la Constitución. Inaugurated by mayor Diego José Mateos on Worls AIDS Day 1 December 2020, the monument consists of a boulder with an inscription of Walt Whitman: “Los infinitos héroes desconocidos valen tanto como los héroes más grandes de la historia”.The mayor recalled that Lorca City Council has voted to implement awareness campaigns in schools.
