Company's Garden | AIDS Memorial Rose Garden |
since 1 December 1994 without names |
The City of Cape Town commissioned the memorial housed in Company's Garden in the middle of Cape Town on land owned by the city. The monument consisted of a marble sculpture with a metal Red Ribbon designed by artist Brett Murray and an orange tree situated in the circular centre bed of roses in the Rose Garden. Inaugurated on World AIDS Day 1994, the 80 x 40 x 30 cm monument as well as the orange tree have been stolen in the meantime.
