Cawthra Square | Toronto AIDS Memorial |
since 1 December 1992 2700 names |
When I visted the Toronto AIDS Memorial, it was decorated with carnations placed by participants of the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life just three days ago. The number of names on the columns is incredible. There is actually room for more columns but it was chosen to reduce the letter fonds on the plaques instead. Besides the columns, there are also trees planted in memory for loved ones: Dennis F. Bitner 1946-1986, Stephen M. Israelstam 1948-1987, D. James McPhee 1963-1989, Bill Knight 1948-1989, Ian McGrigor 1948-1988, J. Craig Howe 1954-1996, and Canada's blood tragedy.
